LIVE WORK

My journey in live sound started with a compliment. I attended a show at a local venue and I earnestly went up to the guy mixing that night to tell him that it sounded great. That started a conversation, which got me a chance to shadow him, which lead to a job offer. A little while down the road that lead me to my first touring gig, which set me on my path as a full time professional touring mix engineer.

Mixing live is so pure. It is in the moment and it is in real time. The feedback - weather constructive or audible - is instantaneous. And physicality of a powerful, great sounding show is nothing short of addictive.

I have had the opportunity and mix for a number of great acts across 3 continents and more than 20 countries. I have done everything from the tiniest rock clubs and stages to theaters, amphitheaters, sheds and stadiums for 10s of thousands of people. Ive done tours in vans, in busses, used trains boats and planes and for a range of genres from metal and hardcore to EDM and electronic music to indie and pop rock to where I am now with a chart topping country artist. In the past I have done more than 250 shows in one year, but these days I am averaging closer to 90-100/year, which give me just enough time to fill bin the blanks with studio work.

But by far and away my favorite part of the time I have spent doing live concert sound have been the people I’ve met and the relationships I’ve built. The sheer number of incredibly smart people it takes to put on a great show is mesmerizing and I feel incredibly luck to call so many of them my friends and colleagues.

I welcome any inquiries you may have about live sound and production, from mixing your next show to putting together a rig for your band or maybe you have some questions about your own mix or workflow and need a little coaching up. I would be happy to help with any and all of it. This is what I do, and I love every bit of it.
